I’ve Upset A Whole Village
Wednesday, September 16th, 2009Saturday Links
Saturday, September 12th, 2009Suzanne and Alec came down last night, for Laura and Rob’s wedding, and being a permanent fixture on the b3ta links board Alec brought up a load of sites I’d either forgotten about or never seen before.
First of all we have Way to Suck That Dick, a disturbing depository of awful awful porn. I had another image in mind for the link but just couldn’t bring myself to have it on my site, and hey there is a wedding today. Also, this is easily the least disgusting image on the entire thing; put down your cereal before clicking (NSFW).
Next up, Play him off, Keyboard Cat. (more…)
All Change Please!
Thursday, September 10th, 2009It’s been an interesting few weeks here on the Westside.
First of all my temp contract at the dotcom I was working at came to an end. Tragedy! As usual I found myself with no alternative employment to keep me occupied and looked forward to Jeremy Kyle and signing on.
Then last Thursday, having been previously informed I would need to wait until next year, I got an offer letter to start university. In two weeks.
Of course, the temp agencies chose this moment to start bombarding me with offers of full-time temp work, which I had to turn down on account of no longer being available. Sod’s law eh. So I’ve been running around doing studenty things like applying for a student loan, bank account, registering, getting NUS cards and ID cards and all sorts of things sorted out… I start on Monday. Citin stuff eh!
Not sure exactly how I’m going to live though. Ernulf shuts for a refurb in three weeks’ time, meaning my remaining source of income, that all-important £50 a week, will disappear. It does kind of give me a kick to leave though; I’ve been hating working weekends for ages and it’s time I had two days a week to myself again. Or three days really, no lectures on Mondays!!
Still with Julie, facebook-official (ha ha) and very happy about it. Did a lot of a cycling while her parents were away, the five-mile mission from central Cambridge to her village being all too familiar to me now. And it was extremely windy nearly all the time, and I was biking into the wind. Typical. I must have lost about a stone in sweat.
This weekend, Suz and Alec are coming up for a couple of days as we are all off to Lady Towny’s wedding, where she will become Mrs Mallet and we will consume smuggled-in beverages on account of being poor. Brilliant choice of names. Everyone is growing up, and I’m going backwards.
I love it.
